These wood engraving are from Catskill, NY.  A large town/small city along the Hudson River. Certain places within the town brings you these spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains. Bring a little piece of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains home. I’ve been looking at the Catskill Mountains my whole life.

They are engraved on a piece of white pine (Pinus strobus), which is an common native species found extensively in the Hudson Valley. Some of the wood, you’ll notice a bluish tinge to the wood. It’s part of the pine, which is call “blue wood”.   I try to use the knots that are common in the pine as part of the art. The board measures approximately 16” x 7.25” x .75. It is finished with danish oil. They can be easily hung with the “saw tooth hangers” that I install on the back.

What can you say about the Adirondack Mountains? From their peaceful beauty to their unrelenting ruggedness, each mountain has its own story to tell. You can wallow away the time under a tree listening to a babbling stream or standing on a peak, drinking in the vastness of the range, feeling like you are on top of the world.
